Happy St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is big here in Boston. There is a huge population with Irish roots. Some events started last weekend and the big parade is on Sunday. Shamrock Cupcakes for St. Patrick's Day Boston held America’s first St. Patrick’s Day celebration in 1737, and has the second largest St. Patrick’s Day parade the US. That parade is in South Boston and we are hoping to go. It is estimated that 600,000+ people will be along the route. There are also other parades around the state. There are lots of Irish pubs, including 1 just a block away and another one about a half a mile away, that hosted the 5K race on Sunday. The picture above is my race shirt from Sunday. Today is also Evacuation Day. I saw some references to it yesterday and had to look it up. It celebrates the evacuation of British forces from Boston after the Siege of Boston in 1776, early in the American Revolutionary War.
